Hey! So Glad You're Here.
I'm Drew, a father of two toddlers and happily married for 7 years to my wife Lindsay. Lindsay and I are both very career focused - we met in business school and now typically work 50-60 hours per week.

I wanted to share how we have tried to balance our desire to be excellent parents with our careers.

We had our first daughter, Quinn, while living in a 1 bedroom apartment in San Francisco. I was traveling 4 days per week for work, so Lindsay had to bear the brunt of the weekday childcare. We had our second daughter, Maude, right at the beginning of the pandemic after we had moved back to Chicago. We've since moved into a townhouse.
Both of our parents live in the Midwest but are not local so we've had to build our infrastructure without amazing advantage of local grandparents.

For childcare, we've done national chain daycares, a dropoff nanny, a wonderful fulltime nanny Helen, local daycare, and currently a national Montessori preschool which we love.

All of this is to give you context around the varied environments we've raised our children in.

Ultimately, parenting is incredibly personal. You've got to find what works for you. In this blog I'd like to surface what has and hasn't worked for us, focused on the (in my view large) common areas for most children.
